I had a wonderful semester. I want to thank God and Mother Mary for helping me a lot with my school. I also want to thank Merissa and Elaine for their helps. I really appreciated your teaching skills. You always spent times by doing search on the computer in order to help us to build our knowledge. Thank to you , now, I am interested in politics and sports. You heped us a lot. When you gave us some vocabularies to make up a story or a dialogue, this practice helped us a lot to memorize the meaning of the words. Elaine and Merissa, you were very nice and helpful. Your goals were to help us to be fluent in English not mediocre. I want to say thank you to my classmatees for their helps especially when we worked together. I will miss you my dear friends. I WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISMAS and A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Today, after getting back to Clavdya house, my aunts and I went to Manathan to visit Liliane. She has lung cancer. We were four to go there. When we got Liliane's room, her daughter asked us to wear surgical face masks because she is fragile to get germs. She could not stop crying when she saw us. She lost her hair. We spent 50 minutes with her. Before leaving, she asked us to pray for her. Her situation is very painful. I hope God helps her to recover from her illness.

My mom's friend,Clavdya, called me to let me know that she is pregnant. I was so excited after a six-year marriage, she finally gets pregnant. Tomorrow, she will have a dinner family to celebrate this unexpected news. She invited me to be with them to be my mom's representative. unfortunately, I am not feeling well. I don't know if I will be there to celabrate this event.

Today was terrible for me. When I got back from school, on the bus I realized that I did not have my key with me. Unfortunately, when I got home, I found all the doors locked and I could not do anything. I was under the rain and I was frozen. I went to Elmont Public Library in order to do my homework as I did yesterday. After doing my homework, I started reading a book titled "H.R.H"_ is a novel of the conflict between old and new worlds, responsability versus freedom, and duty versus love, by Danielle Steel. As you all know, reading is one the best ways to built your vocabulary. I would advice you dear friends to spend time even one hour in reading because you will get knowledge from it.

Yesterday,the group of Divine Mercy made the pilgrimage to Washington. I went with them. We went there in order to go to Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. It is one of the ten largest Churches in the world. Catholic Church celebrates Immaculate Conception every December eighth. We went there before the celebration's day because everybody who participated in the pilgrimage would go to work or to school the day of the celebration.We traveled four hours to get the place. I liked the place especially the location of the Statue of the Immaculate Conception. It was very calm and I felt that I was in Heaven. We traveled more than four hours to get back to NY because of traffics. Yesterday was an unforgettable day for me.

Today my aunt, Nicole, got engage to her boyfriend, Peter. Before the engagement, they had a mass. Before the mass was ended, the man gave Nicole the engaged ring. The man was so shy and could not say anything.He said before everething started that he would not kneel down to give the engaged ring. He said " if I did that, everybody would make fun of me". After giving the engaged ring, they explained how they met each other. Thereafter,they had a party to celabrate this good event. The party ended at 12 PM and everybody went home.

After listening a God's instrumental song CD that I got from my parents, I felt sad to live so far from them.Until now, I get the same feeling. Every Sunday, when I was in Haiti, my family always had a family dinner. We were sitting at the table listened this CD together during the dinner.The CD begins with a blessing prayer and ends with a thanking prayer. I keep thinking about good moments that I spent with them. I feel unsafe because I miss their affection. Now, I recognize that no one can ever love me as my parents and nothing in this world can take away my love for them.

Today in the morning my friend, Juliana's mom called my aunt,Linda, to tell her that she wanted me to be with them for a family dinner. My aunt agreed with their invitation. When Linda tried to explain me the reason of her call, I said to her " how come they invite to a family dinner?". She answered me " you know that they love you and I think there is nothing else besides it ". Linda asked her husband to take me to my friend's house. When I got there, my friend's parents gave me a warm welcome. I was amazed by their welcome because that was the first time I met them. When we were sitting at the table, we had fun such as laughing and made joke to each other. After dinner, my friend and I played echec and I was the loser. It was 8 o'clock when my friend and her mom took me home.That was an unforgettable day.

Yesterday, I went shopping with my aunt,Jocelyne, and her husband, Jimmy at Creen Acres Mall. She left the baby to her friend Sophia because she could not go with her. It was two o'clock when we left home. I was so excited to go there because I wanted to buy my loptop. Besides the loptop that my aunt and her husband bought for me, they also bought a DVD player and clothes for me. By the time to go to the cashier, I felt a weakness in my legs because the line was too long. My aunt asked me to go back in the car in order to take rest. After getting in the car, I waited for them about two hours. Even though that happened to me, it was a delightful day for me.

Yesterday, I was astonished to see my aunt, Jocelyne, and her family came to my house in order to celebrate Thanksgiving and also her daughter, Jennifer's birthday. When I saw my cute little cousin, I said " I am not going to do anything, only take care of her ". However without asking my aunt, she said " Toto, can you take care of your cousin?". I was excited to give her a positive answer. Unfortunately, my cousin had diarrhea and I had to change her again and over again. It did not matter to me because my aunt promised me that she would go shopping with me the next day.Even if my aunt did not guarantee me to go shopping, I would help her because the baby is my cousin and as a child of God I have to be more helpful than helpless. I took care of my cousin until she fell asleep. Took care of her until night, made the day a delightful day for me.

How parents should discipline their children?
Parents discipline their children for their own good. unfortunately, most parents don't know the best way to discipline their children. I think the best way parents should discipline their children is to talk to them. I think if parents discipline their children by spanking them, parents are not going to have any result because children don't understand the reason of being spanked. Keep that in mind, children react the same way like their parents. In other words, the way parents use to solve their problem that will be the way they will use to solve their problems . It should be better to discipline children by talking in order to make them aware of dangers.

Today in conversation lab, we discussed an interesting topic. The topic was about a childless couple where the woman was 45 years old and the man was 39 years old. They wanted to have a child by in-vitro. They went to their doctor to convince him that he should do it. The doctor had mixed feeling about this extemely complicated situation. The doctor was not sure if the procedure was going to work or not because of the woman's age. The interesting thing was, the teacher asked to work in group of 3 or 4 to make up the scene. After discussing in group, we had to go in front to perform. In this case, we needed one doctor, a woman, a man and a good friend but it was not an obligation to have a friend.That was so amazing to see students from different levels worked together in order to get the perfect idea. However everybody did well.

Today was a special day to me because that made me remember something. When I was in high-school, my teacher organized a kareoke. It was an obligation for us to sing. One of my classmatees thought that she had a nice voice. She told the teacher that she wanted to be the last performer.It did not matter to the teacher to let her performed at the end because the importance is to be performed. When it would be her turn, she went in front of us to sing. unfortunately, no body could hear one word from her song. I n other words, she badly performed. That was why I could not stop laughing . I thought that I was in Haiti in high-school.

Yesterday I went to visit my mom's cousin, Guerdy, because I was dying to see her. She has two little girls Kessy and Jessika. They are very lovely. Unfortunately I had a bad moment with them.Guerdy wanted to go to a grocery store in order to buy food and asked me to watch them. When their mom left, they inquired me to go to buy some candy with them. I told Kessy and Jessika that I could not go because it was too cold outside and then they cried. The worst was I could not do anything to make them stop crying. When Guerdy came back from the grocery store , I called my uncle to come and pick me up. When my uncle got there, I came over to them to say goodbye. Jessika and Kessy said " next time don't forget to bring us some candy and we love you so much". I said " even if I am not coming, I will send it to you. Goodbye, God bless you". I left less upset because before living they showed that they did not have anything against me.

In abc channel, I watshed a show about a physically man who was pregnant by in-vitro. I say " physically man" because she still have the female sex even though on all her identifications have male as her gender. She said during her pregnancy she received a lot of calls where people asked her to take away the baby because of her pretending sex. She did not care about what people think. The funny question was when the interrogator asked him "are you going to be the mother or the father of the baby?". She could not answer because this question was so embarrassing. The cameraman showed the process of the labor. That was so disgusting to see a man that she pretends to be giving birth to a baby.

Yesterday when I came back from school, I went to take a nap. I had a horrible dream. I saw my cousin, Luciene, and her friend Kathy trying to throw me on the living room's window. Fortunately, I had my sandals holding in my hands and I kept hitting them with. After a few minutes, I could not go over because I felt a weakness in my arms. Thank God, my mom's brother, John at that time came home in order to see her sister. When they heard his voice, they ran away from me. Whem I woke up, I still feel a weakness in my arms.

Yesterday was my little cousin Abigael's birtday.Now, she is four years old. Unfortunately I could not be in her party, so I had to do my homework because friday to saturday I was running a fever. This morning she woke up early in order to ask me the reason of being absent in her party. I said to Abigael " I have to leave now,so when I am coming back I will give you the reason". When I got back from school, I found her standing behind the door waiting for me. She opened the door and ask me for the reason. I tried to give her an explanation about what I was doing up stairs. She said " I understand you but why you asked my mom to give me the presence that you bought for me instead of you". I smiled at her because I didn't know what to say. After that she said " do you know how much I love you? why you do that to me?. I felt embarrassed in front of her and I apologized for not being in her party. She said I forgave you.to prove that she forgave me, she gave me a big hug and said " I love you ". I felt happy because of her forginess.

Yesterday was my mom's birthday. I was in a bad mood because I could not be with her.In the morning before going to school, I called her in order to say happy birthday to her. Unfortunately, I could not reach her. When I got back from school, I tried again. Finally, she answered and I sang happy birthday for her. She was so amazed because she did not expect that could happen. Thereafter,I became happy because she was. Sometimes, it is difficult to live without my parents because I miss their affection.

Dear friends, I am going to share a story with you. The story is about a man, Karl, and a woman Gaethane. In addition, they already married. One day, Gaethane borrowed Karl's lexus in order to go to a grocery store to buy some food. After buying groceries, a car was ruining to Gaethane's car. she got hurt all her body. She became unconscious. An ambulance came and went to the hospital with her. When she woke up, she gave a nurse her husband's phone number and she inquuired her to call him. Karl said to her " I will be there in a few minutes ". When he got there, he said to his wife " is my baby fine ". Gaethane answered his husband " yes Karl, I feel better now ". Karl said " I am not talking about you, I am talking about my lexus. She said " I don't get it Karl" He answered her " you don't get it, you will see" Karl told her that he spent a lot of money to buy this car, so she had to buy an other lexus to give it to him. Gaethane became upset because she did not understand how come a man could give a thing more importance than his wife. When she recovered from this pain, she went to buy a lexus in order to give it to him. When she gave the key of the car to Karl, Karl explained his sentiment to her. He said " Gaethne, do you know how much I love you and care about you? Gaethane did not answer him because the way he reacted after this incidence did not show that he loved her. After three months, she divorced from him.

My dear friends, as you all know,children can learn a lot from television. Many programms are devised to make children learn. On the other hand, television can convey bad messages to children. That is one reason why some channels can be locked and not made available to children. In fact, when children watch TV, they want to make everything they see come true. The reason is children don't understand the difference between something real and something that pretends to be. If you have little brothers, sisters, cousins, and so on I would advice you to pay attention to what kind of programms they watch. Please, help children to be interested in educational things. It is good for you too because you are learning English.

My friend, Lucy, came from Haiti yersterday. I asked my aunt, Rose, if she could spend a whole week with me. Rose's answer was positive. Lucy's first night, I could not fall asleep because she slept in my room and Lucy could not laughing on the phone with her cousin,Sophia. The worst of that was when she finally felt asleep, Lucy made a lot of snores that kept me awake all night. It was 5:00 A.M when I got out of my bed to go take a shower. On purpose, I awoke Lucy and she became angry with me. Lucy required me to sleep in Rose's room until her last day. I agree because Lucy is here only for a couple of days.
Dear friends,whenever you have a guest in your house, you need to be willing to make some sacrifices in order to make your guest comfortable.

I had a terrific day. When I got back from school, I went to the Green Acres Mall with one of my uncles,John, and his daughter,Valery. She is three years old. When we went to Macy,s, Valery saw a mannequin and said "Hi, how are you doing?". The mannequin didn't answer her. She came over to her dad tried to explain what happened. The worst of that was her dad didn't understand what she really wanted to say. Valery became angry and cried because anybody couldn't understand her. However, Valery's dad's misunderstanding didn't mean that he couldn't help her. That is why you have to pay attention to what your children do because John by paying attention to Valery, he knew that Valery tried to say something about the mannequin that she spoke with. John explained to Valery the meaning of a mannequin. Valery became less angry.The funny thing was, Valery asked her dad to buy a mannequin and bring home.

Just an advice
I want you to be more helpful than helpless and more selfless than selfish. let me ask you a question. What are you going to do if you find a person faints on the floor? It is not an obligation, so I suggest you to help him/her. Even by helping on that moment you can get in trouble, do it anyway with all your heart, do not worry, God will take care of that. The more you help your neighbor, the more you will make God happy. Do you know how much God cares about you and really cared for you. Please my dear friends try to make Him cheerful instead of killing Him again. Let me give you a secret, the more you bless someone in the name of God the more you will receive blessing from God.

Protecting yourself

Protecting oneself can be viewed in a holistic manner that means protecting the mind, soul, and body.

Being less anxious about the future, avoiding negative thoughts that keep you wandering, listening to soft music, get together to relax or any activity to keep the mind in a positive state will help you have a healthy mind.

Your soul, for me, one of the best best way to keep it healthy is to give it to God as it is His and His blessing will shadow over it.

Eating well, sleeping the 6-8 hours at night, excersing at least 30 minutes a day will sustain your body. Eating in a healthy way such as fruits and vegetables, cooking with the olive oil, drink some milk, get organic products, protein and carbohydrates, avoiding saturated fat will aid your body to find every substance to function well.

Unfortunately, some people emphasize only about eating well and excercising, but forget the importance of the 6 to 8 hours of sleep at night.When you deprive yourself of sleep, it affects your cardiovascular, immune system, endocrime system, and sometimes your whole body. People can put themselves in a regular schedule to help them keep up with a "good night sleep" and avoiding all that caffeine in the morning to stay awake.

Hoping that information of the holistic manner to view your health will help everyone who will read those lines.

My name is Marie,was born in Haiti, which is in the Carribean. I have three brothers and one sister.When I was in Haiti, I used to spend quality time with my family. We liked to play soccer, volley-ball, etc. We used to go to church on Sunday and sometimes during the week.I do really miss them since I am away from them, but I do carry those great souvenirs in my heart.
I like watching T.V. in my free time and I like to go to the movies with my friends. Eating salad and vegetables is my favorite diet because of its healthiest outcome. I like walking in the morning.
I am catholic,believe in God's power and love because without Him I can't do nothing. For me, live without God in my life is to live without hope, blessing, and protection or it is staying in the darkness. I pray to God for His guidance anytime I have to make a decision.
Please brothers and sisters as a wise advise, pray to God your creator, love Him and serve Him with all your heart. Before you go to bed, think Him for all the goodness He has done for you.
